Is God real?

Answer:

Yes, He is real. The greatest display of God’s realness to mankind is in the incarnation of God as Jesus.

God’s realness in Jesus
John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

God became flesh and revealed Himself to us in the person of Jesus. He dwelt amongst us and lived a sinless life, facing the same temptations as us. He showed us His glory in Jesus, the image of the invisible God Himself (Col 1:15,19-20). What was invisible has been made visible! He revealed to us the nature of God in all grace and truth. In Him, we see God!

God’s realness in creation
The realness of God has also been displayed through his creation.

Romans 1:19-20
For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

The beauty of creation speaks of God and shows the world his eternal power. Gazing at majestic mountains or the power of the ocean creates within anyone a sense of grandeur and awe. The direction of our gaze in these circumstances should be directed to God who formed this world with His own hands and made plain to us His invisible attributes.

God’s realness through the Holy Spirit
The realness of God can also be experienced. We can know God in personal experience, through relationship. All other religions and thoughts do not have this possibility. Scripture says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Ps 34:8), “Your [God's] robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia” (Ps45:8), and “My sheep hear My voice” (John 10:27). God can be experienced! Through faith in His son Jesus, we have access to God, whom we can approach with confidence. We are called and invited to know Him, to experience Him and trust Him.

It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that God is revealed to us. The things of God are made real to those who are born of the Holy Spirit (2 Corin 2:12). Paul also prayed in Ephesians 1:17 that “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.” The Holy Spirit opens up our dark hearts to shine the truth of who God is in the face of Jesus Christ.

God is real! Will we believe?
