1) an absolute truth
2) faith in that truth

As Christians, we believe that God is the only way because He told us so. This is recorded in scripture. God is our source of absolute truth and the bible is His medium of telling us that truth. God has called us not to accept what is not truth.

God has revealed in scripture that Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Christians can indeed make an exclusive claim consistent with their worldview that Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus taught that repentance and forgiveness of sin should be preached in his name to all nations (Luke 24:46-47). Peter states that “there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.’ (Acts 4:12). John says that “No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also” (1 John 2:23) and that ‘He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life’ (1 John 5:12). Paul writes that “there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim 2:5).”

The person who says that there are many ways is just as closed-minded and faith-reliant as a Christian. He assumes a source of absolute truth has informed him that there are many ways to heaven. He has faith in what he thinks is this source of truth. Based on this, he will declare, closed-mindedly, that Christianity’s teaching is absolutely wrong.

Each one of us must choose which one of these claims to absolute truth we believe in.

All that said, Christians ought not to mock or degrade other religions. We know the truth only because God has saved us, and no credit for this falls to us. Christians must be humble and loving while living in the truth that there is only one way to heaven: Jesus Christ.
