How can I find victory over depression?

Answer:

Depression is a condition which is increasingly experienced in today’s world frequently due to the increasing stress and demands of the times we live in. Depression should be identified early and treated before it gets worse and out of control leading to suicide. A common symptom of depression is having low moods for a prolonged period of time.

Depression can be treated with medication if required or by talking with someone who is able to help you realize your depression and its causes and deal with them accordingly and effectively.

In addition to the above, for Christians, they can pour out their depressive concerns to God to alleviate them. We see examples of this in Psalms like Psalm 55.

God, however, is not just some therapist or a channel to vent. He holds full mastery over all things in the world, including depression and His sovereignty and power as God must be recognized before His victory can be effective.

There are no promises that God will cure all ailments in this lifetime. Our illnesses, depressions and injuries may well stay with us for our mortal lives. God finds it much more vital that we rather prepare for the eternity to come, when, He desires, we shall live with Him and glorify Him forever with new, perfect bodies and minds.

If we place our problems against who God is, His plans for us (the greater scheme of things) and what matters to Him, we find relief and rest in God, and victory over depression.
