Does God watch everything I do?
Answer:
Yes, God does watch everything people do and is able to watch everyone in every detail of their lives simultaneously.
God knows when a sparrow falls to the ground and he knows when even a single strand of hair on your head falls off. (Matthew 10:29-31) When the Scriptures speak of God seeing or hearing, we must not think of God as a finite being who can only see a limited number of things at any one time, or who is only able to be at one place at one time. God is both omnipresent and omniscient. (Being omnipresent means that God is everywhere and being omniscient means that God knows everything). Neither is God localized in a physical body as many of His creatures would be. God is spirit (John 4:24). This means that God is not material and is independent of the limitations of the physical universe we are in. God sees everything because God is everywhere. Since He is omnipresent, he sees everything. These verses declare the omnipresence of God:
Jeremiah 23:24 Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the LORD. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the LORD.
Psalms 139:7-8, 10 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! … even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
Hebrews 4:13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. God is a God of knowledge and power, and his understanding is infinite. He is omniscient and knows all things. (1 Sam 2:3; Psalms 147:5)
Psalms 147:5 “Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite.”(KJV)
Since God knows all things including things that will happen ahead of time, God’s knowledge is eternal. In this sense, God does not need to “physically” see something in order to know it. While it is true He is omnipresent and therefore sees everything, in another sense, He knows all things because His knowledge is eternal. Think about it, if God knows everything, it follows that His knowledge must be eternal. If God does not know everything about the future, it means that He will learn something new when the future arrives. But if God can indeed learn something new, His knowledge at the start is not infinite. Therefore, since the scripture teach that God’s knowledge is infinite, it also teaches that God knows everything about the future from the very beginning of time. Likewise, if God’s knowledge of the future is known from the very beginning, the future is already pre-determined, otherwise God’s foreknowledge would be wrong and He would not be infinite in His understanding. God’s omniscient also means that God is immutable; that is, God is eternally unchanging (Malachi 3:6; James 1:17)
